The New Mexico legislative session is upon us! This year, our legislators will meet in Santa Fe for a 30-day legislative session, beginning on January 18 and ending on February 17, 2022.
This year’s legislative session is focused on the proposed $8.4 billion budget , $3.8 billion of which is proposed for New Mexico’s K-12 public education system, a 12% increase from last year. Though 30 day sessions are focused on the budget, there are still important policy decisions to be made.
New Mexico’s education system continues to underserve our students and our lawmakers need to prioritize policies that best serve our students. There is no aspect of the legislative more important than feedback from New Mexico citizens.
